South America ranks fourth in area and fifth in population. Popular countries in this continent are Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela, Paraguay, Guyana, Ecuador and Bolivia. South America is blessed with natural wonders, beautiful beaches, dense tropical forests and spectacular waterfalls. South America consists of two popular wonders of the world, The Iguazu Falls and The Statue of Cristo Redentor.

ARGENTINA:
Argentina is a popular South American country with a huge geographic diversity and a great place for diverse tourism destinations. It is the 8th largest country in the world and the tourist map of the country is divided into number of geographical areas. From the snow-capped peaks and glaciers of the Andes to the dusty plains of Patagonia or lush rainforest of Missiones or ride the horse in the red mountains of Salta.

BRAZIL:
Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world and the largest in South America. Brazil tourism has been very popular for its Carnival, beaches, tropical climate, natural beauty and a tremendous passion for football (soccer). There are several tourist attractions in Brazil including the Amazon forests and Igazu falls. Music is also an important part of the Brazilian community and dances like samba, bossa nova and choro are considered to have been originated here.

CHILE:
It narrowly stretches along the southern half of the west coast of South America bordering the South Pacific Ocean, between Argentina and Peru. Chile is a long and narrow coastal strip wedged between the Andes mountains and the Pacific Ocean.

Galapagos:
The Galapagos Archipelago is a cluster of some 13 volcanic islands and 6 smaller isles and rocks located just under the equator, about 600 miles west of Ecuador in South America with a population of around 30,000 people. Together Galapagos islands span about 50,000 sq km of ocean.

Machu Picchu site is almost invisible from below, It is situated on a small hilltop between two Andean peaks. These are one of the best ruins of the world and anyone who is visiting Peru should not miss the opportunity to experience it. Separated into three areas - agricultural, urban, and religious - the structures are arranged so that the function of the buildings matches the form of their surroundings. Its believed that not more than 800 people lived here at a given time.

Canaima park is the most popular park of Venezuela (just 2nd largest in area after Parima-Tapirapeco park) along the border between Guyana and Brazil in south-east part of the country covering over 3 million hectares in Guayana region south of the Orinoco River. Roughly 65% of the park is covered by tepui (table mountain) formations.

Tip #2. All valuable items like jewellery and cash, important items like passport should be in your custody i.e. carry on luggage and not checked in. Check with airlines about the baggage weight they allow to avoid paying high extra fee. Call up airlines before you go to the airport if your flight is on time, arrive at the airport 3 hours before departure. Dress comfortably in long flights.
